The International standard ISO 6709of the International Organization for Standardization is the standardrepresentation of latitude , longitude and altitude for geographic point locations. The order ofthe elements is the latitude, the longitude and the altitude.

The representation of altitude is optional. The unit is the metre unless the foot is specified.
