Thomas Jan Stieltjes(thomasjanstieltjes,thomasjan stieltjes,thomas janstieltjes)Thomas Joannes Stieltjes ( December 29 , 1856 - December 31 , 1894 ) was a Dutch mathematician . He was born in Zwolle and died in Toulouse , France . He was a pioneer in the fieldof moment problems . The Thomas Stieltjes Institute for Mathematics at the University of Leiden is named after him, as is the Riemann-Stieltjes integral .
